A Focus on Sediments: Welcoming New Projects to the Danube & Black Sea Lighthouse

As we begin 2025, we are delighted to announce that the iNNO SED project has officially joined the Danube & Black Sea Lighthouse newsletter! Coordinated by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, iNNO SED introduces innovative approaches to sediment management across the Danube River Basin, from the mountains to the Black Sea. With GeoEcoMar, a key partner in several Danube Lighthouse projects, we are excited to deepen connections and synergies across the Lighthouse. January also marks the launch of DANSER, which addresses pressing sediment challenges and aligns with the Danube Sediment Management Guidance, further strengthening our shared mission.

In late 2024, EcoDaLLi conducted a series of workshops along the Danube, delivering policy recommendations for nature-based solutions. Their outcomes will be published soon and other project results can now be found on the EcoDaLLi portal. Highlights in this newsletter also include Restore4Life’s selected Associated Regions, progress in the DaWetRest Lower Danube Demonstrator, a spotlight on DALIA's Demo Site 2 and exciting upcoming events, such as the European Ocean Days including the Mission Ocean & Waters Forum.
